Christmas 2015

We started off the holiday on the morning of December 23 with an early morning visit to Santa!

That night my sister and Dave threw me an amazing surprise 30th birthday party! I knew there was some sort of surprise happening, but had no clue it was a party with all my favorite people! My sister put so much work into it and it was perfect. It was at the new Foxcroft Wine Shop in Dilworth, such a great spot. Tons of champagne, wine and great food!

On Christmas Eve we had my traditional birthday breakfast. I love this tradition that we've been doing my whole life! All of my family comes over and we have mimosas and eggs benedict. My two besties (and godparents to the twins) were able to be there this year too! This was the best birthday yet. It was so sad without my dad, but everyone helped make it extra special. Normally after breakfast we all get ready and go to church, but this year we skipped due to the twins' schedule. So after some relaxing time at home, we went and met friends for a beer at Wooden Robot and then went to dinner at Rock Salt.

Christmas morning was so fun! We woke up with the twins and showed them all their Santa presents. Of course they didn't get it, but we loved seeing them with their new toys- even though we mainly gave them practical gifts like clothes. I did splurge and get them Noodle & Boo wash and lotion- it smells amazing!

Later we headed over to my sister's for a late brunch and presents. I love seeing what Santa brings my nephews and niece! And they were so excited to give presents to James & Eloise. We didn't stay too long because we had to  head home to let the twins nap while we got everything ready to host Christmas dinner. Such a busy day, but all so fun and exciting.

I couldn't have asked for a better first Christmas with the twins and first Christmas without my dad. Holidays with parents or family are not easy. I'm so thankful I had Eloise & James here this year with us!

5 beauty favs

One of my favorite things to read about is beauty products! Not necessarily from beauty experts, but regular people.  Here are a few things I've found lately that I am looooving...

one. Chantecaille Lip Gloss in Charm - I got this at Woo in Charlotte. I love that place! This lip gloss feels amazing.

two. Trish McEvoy Intense Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Arabian Nights - Again, I bought mine at Woo, but found it also at Nordstrom. They recommended the blue to make my eye whites look whiter and I really like it. I've been trying to line the water line of my eyes, that is my favorite look.

three. St. Ives Pink Lemonade & Mandarin Scrub- I was at Target and really needed a new scrub (I have a gentle face wash) and impulse bought this one. I used it the other day and it felt great. I loved how my face felt after!

four. John Frieda Frizz Ease 3Day Straight Flat Iron Spray- This has definitely helped keep my hair straight! I don't have time to wash my hair daily and this helps me be able to wear it down more before I do a pony tail.

five. Laura Mercier Bronzer- Ok there is a pattern here...I've been spending too much time and money at Woo!

There are lots of other fun products I've gotten at Woo recently. They are great about recommending a variety of brands and helping you find what works for you. I told Dave to send me here for my birthday for a makeover!

4 months with my cuties!

Every mom says it and it is so true- time flies! I really can not believe they are 4 months old. There are times I'm ready to see the next phase- crawling, talking, etc and times I want them to be 4 weeks old again!

They turned 4 months on October 30, which happened to be the same day we took them on their first road trip. We planned to leave super early, when they nap the best. So we fed them around 6:30 and then put them in the car. They slept until 10:45 when we finally found a Chick-fil-A to stop at! Another bottle and then back in the car and they were happy as can be. I feel so lucky that it went so smoothly. It was a 5+ hour drive with our stops and they didn't cry once.
party favors from #allwed!

Also in October they were baptized! Full post on that to come.

with their godparents

On Sunday (November 1) James laughed for the first real time! It was amazing. He has been smiling so much more lately and cooing a lot. But this was a full laugh. Dave was kissing on his belly and putting him in the air. Then on Monday (November 2) Eloise had her first real laugh! I was wiping down her neck area (which was covered with spit up-gross) and she started laughing. It was adorable and I can't believe they did it just a day apart. I can't wait until it is a more regular thing because it is the cutest sound ever.

We had their 4 month check up Thursday and it went great. James weighs 14 pounds and Eloise weighs 12 pounds. He is 24" and she is 23.25"! We just started putting him in size 2 diapers, she is still in size 1. James is now wearing 6 month PJs (Target brand) and 3-6 month PJs from Old Navy/Gap. Sweet little Eloise is still in 0-3 or 3 month PJs.  All of the Halloween things I bought her were 3-6 month and they swallowed her!

For the past couple of weeks they were taking turns waking up between 3 and 4am...for no reason. Just wanting to be held or comforted. Our doctor gave us the go ahead to let them just cry it out. So Thursday night we were ready to do it, but didn't have to! They slept until 5:45am on their own. Friday night James woke up at 4:30am and cried for a bit, but eventually went back to sleep and they slept until 7. We are trying to transition Eloise from the rock n play to her crib...so that is a little tough at the beginning of the night.

Friday we gave them rice cereal in the high chair for the first time and it went great. They loved it. Not sure how much they really ate, but it was fun.

This age is so fun! They are getting such cute little personalities. I love the cooing and smiling. They are so happy!

15 weeks (10.13.15)

Today Eloise & James are 15 weeks old! Time is flying.

I didn't want to wait until four months for an update because I wasn't very detailed for 3 months. I need this info to go back and fill in the baby books!

a full day of snuggles on a day without power

14 weeks

i love halloween outfits & this twin z pillow!

They are still in size 1 diapers, wearing 0-3 months clothes and some 3-6 clothes. Can't wait to see how much they weigh and how tall they are at their 4 month appointment.

We dropped the swaddle Sunday night and it wasn't too bad. I was and still am worried. They slept really well with the swaddle. We are using sleep sacks instead and it is crazy to look at the monitor and see them flailing their arms and legs around. I am putting mittens on their hands so they don't get too cold. I just hope we can get back to their good sleep habits!

They each had small fevers yesterday...not sure why. But a little Tylenol seemed to help and fix them right up. After they cried for 3 hours straight....

They did not sleep great. Eloise was up from 3-3:40am, then James was up 3:50-4:10, then Eloise was up again 4:10-4:20, then James was up at 4:30.... I mean seriously.

James is getting close to rolling over! He can get to his side but then stops.

My Aunt Kristen came to visit from Atlanta and it was SO fun having her meet the twins!

They had their first night with a babysitter last week and it went really well. I am really glad we found someone that we trust and is perfect with them.

They have started sitting in the Bumbo for a little bit each day. James really likes it, Eloise isn't sure what she thinks. They're still doing tummy time when we can on the play mat. James prefers to be on his back looking in the mirror! Eloise does better sitting up in a seat because of her reflux. I will be so glad when the reflux goes away. She is still taking medicine twice a day for it.

If y'all have any sleep tips, send them my way!!

introducing elle + j!

I am so excited to share the new name of my jewelry company- elle + j!

My new website will be up soon! All the jewelry will be the same, just a new name and look. It was time for an update and change...something a little more me. I'll also be changing the blog name- just not sure exactly to what yet.

Another change.... I've hired someone new! Meet Christine- wife to Austin, mom to adorable twin boys Hudson and Nolan, fellow Elon grad.  From Cincinnati, she moved to Charlotte after graduating from Elon. Much like me she loves wearing stacks of bracelets, especially since we each have 2 little ones that pull on necklaces!

I am thrilled to have her join me on this adventure. I've had some great help here and there over the past 2.5 years and it was finally time to make it a real, steady position. I just needed someone to be the perfect fit and I'm excited that it is Christine. She has been a huge help and resource to me since I found out I was expecting twins. Being a mom to twins automatically bonds you!

Thank you all for your support! Can't wait to share the new website.

3 months old!

I can't believe they are over 3 months old!

James weighs about 13 pounds and Eloise weighs about 11 pounds. She definitely feels lighter and tinier than James!

They've started sleeping through the night some! Not totally consistent- but I'll take it. Some mornings they wake up at 5:30am, others 7am. They get their last bottle at 7:30pm, go down in bed around 8-8:30pm. We were doing a dream feed at 10:30pm, but have just recently stopped that. They sometimes cry off and on for a bit when we put them down, other times they go straight to sleep. So we never know what the night will be like.

Last week James got another cold and still has it. Eloise has some sniffles, but not as bad. So his sleep hasn't been great.

We took them to get pumpkins last week and it was so fun! It was really more for me and Dave, but I like starting these traditions early.

They love to smile, sit up and watch everything going on. Both babble lots and I love when they recognize my voice or see me when I walk into a room.

They are just the cutest things!  I am loving this age!

Five on Friday

Thank you all for the sweet words on my post yesterday! It means a lot to me.

one. On top of taking care of the twins, I've still been working. And I have some BIG news coming soon for the company....well I'll just say it... I'm rebranding Poppy Style! I can't wait to share the new name, logo and website with y'all!

two. I love this light from West Elm in the hallway by my office! I can't wait to finish this space and share more.

three. We have our first night out without the babies next weekend for a wedding. I am so excited! I am wearing this dress that Anthro just marked down. I can't wait to get all dressed up and eat, dance and celebrate.

four. The babies' baptism is scheduled for late October and I have lots of planning to do. The invitations just arrived from Minted so now I need to rush and get them in the mail. We're having a brunch here after the service for everyone. So lots of menu planning to do! We have a family gown that Eloise will wear because she is the smallest, but I need a gown for James. I got them these Kissy Kissy outfits to wear at the brunch.
