random thoughts on thursday

This post is alllll over the place!! :)

one. I love this video going around:

Makes me miss crazy college days!

two. We went to the Panthers game this past Sunday and had a great time! BUT, man, they are strict on this new purse rule. My friend's purse was tiny, totally fit in the square, but going in the said it was just slightly too big so we had to take it back to the car. Girls were dumping stuff into clear bags and throwing out purses. Super frustrating, they should definitely clarify these new rules.

three. Excited for the Wit & Delight line at Target. Planning to pick up a few items- like the beer bottle opener (here), pentagon candles (here), and metallic cards (here).

four. In love with this top I picked up at Anthropologie! Wore it two days in a row this weekend...

five. Must read article: There is nothing selfish about suicide

six. This video is SO true.

Linking up with Natalie & Annie!

floral fun

(vase- old from Target, by Nate Berkus; similar one here)

Flowers are my favorite way to freshen up my home! I always tease Dave that he never gets me enough flowers...and its true. So I just buy them for myself! :)

In the summer I like to go to the Kings Drive Farmers Market and get a big bunch for $15-$25 and then split it up into smaller bunches around the house. If the market isn't open, I go to our local Harris Teeter and raid the 3 for $12 section.  I really like to mix and match myself! Sometimes I do all white, other times I add pops of colors.  You can really make a nice arrangement for just $12.

I love using a fun, bold vase like this gold one from Target. I also like this small white one- you could do a few of them together to make a statement.

these were $12 from Harris Teeter!

I've thought about taking a floral arranging class- has anyone ever done that?

a recap

I thought I would be back here sharing a recap from my best friend's wedding this past weekend. I just can't yet.

Last week my other best friend's father passed away suddenly. It has broken her world and shaken mine.  So this weekend while one friend had the happiest day of her life, another had the worst.  I am so thankful I was able to split time to be with both of them.

But as you can imagine, I am still recovering in so many ways. I can't wait to share Caroline's big day with all of you- it was gorgeous and perfect.  But I want to wait until I can find the best words and pictures to do it justice and not rush it.

I'll hopefully be back next week with a new blog post!

its the freedix wedding week!!!

A few of my favorites of me and my bestie (maid of honor at the time) at my wedding! I can't wait for her wedding this weekend!

(photos by Kristin Vining Photography)

and here is her lucky guy!

I'm taking off Wednesday-Sunday to be with her so no more blogs posts from me this week and any Poppy Style orders will ship Monday or Tuesday of next week! I'll pop in next week to share a recap!

restaurant reviews

I last shared my favorite restaurants here and thought I would add some more!

Dandelion Market: I love their food for dinner! I haven't tried lunch or brunch, but it is on my list.  It is an awesome place to go with a group and order lots of different dishes to share. We went Saturday night and the upstairs was packed with bachelorette parties, I've also been there for a bachelorette party! Tons of small plates to share!
must order: Prosciutto Crostini, Grilled Lamb Lollipops, Zucchini Salad

Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar: When they first opened, Dave and I went every week. Finally had to cut back some! The bartenders are great- always friendly.  On Fridays they have half priced champagne, and you know I love that!
must order: Prosciutto Di Parma & Burrata, Cavatappi, Roasted Mushroom Pizza

Roosters: This place can get a bit pricey, but it is worth it! Dave and I typically share a meat and a couple of sides. Sometimes we will each just order 1-2 things for ourselves as a meal. Everything is a la carte.  We like to sit at the kitchen bar and watch them cook- definitely makes for a fun dinner!
must order: Mac and Cheese, Pan Fried Corn, Boneless Beef Short Rib, Zach's Hot Dog

Sushi Guru: This place is right next to Roosters. The atmosphere isn't as fun as Roosters or other places. But is a great sushi place! Small, intimate and great rolls.
must order: Fujisan Roll, Guru Roll

On my list to try:
The Asbury
The Summit Room

Anyone in Charlotte tried those? Any other suggestions or favs?!
